 Dori and Paul
Alessandra Cielo arrived to our loving arms on Friday March 7th at 7:02 pm,
weighing 6 lbs 1 oz. Mom and baby are doing great! The birthing process
was a life-changing experience for all of us. Dori was amazing. We'll share
more photos of the baby with everyone in as soon as we settle back in the
house.
We feel truly blessed by her arrival, and are grateful for our friends and
family members who were with us every step of the way. Thanks all for your
support and good thoughts.

I would say that without a doubt it is a huge benefit having a doula for your first pregnancy. The knowledge and support you get is just incredible and makes the entire experience much more enjoyable and fun.

The encouragement and emotional support from our labor doulas was invaluable in practically eliminating negative feelings of fear and self-doubt during labor. It should also be noted that doulas are not only helpful with natural childbirth - the doula was also very helpful after I had an epidural. I was still very nervous about the pushing stage of labor, and the doula transitioned me out of my anxious anticipation into a state of energetic excitement. This burst of energy allowed me to forget my exhaustion and push vigorously leading to a quick, easy, complication-free birth.

I loved how the doula reminded me to relax my facial muscles and to relax in general. Also, very helpful was going up and down the stairs to help labor progress faster. Oh, and loved that birth ball! Also, it was great how [the doula] told me that it was okay to stand and labor by the bed, even with the fetal heart monitor. Loved that! Everything was just right.
