What our Clients are saying….

“We were relieved and delighted that Nurtured Beginnings was able to accommodate our special  needs through the provision of a customized class in our home. My delivery date was quickly approaching and we had not been able to make it to the hospital for childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn essentials courses due to pregnancy complications that required complete bed rest. Despite being outside their usual service area, Melissa and Michelle agreed to come to our home and customize training to suit our needs (i.e., twins expected, c-section birth, intro to a dog with a Prima Donna complex, home safety, etc). Their warm and friendly demeanor helped make the course enjoyable, and the information they provided both through oral and written instruction (and visual aids) was helpful. The hands-on instruction on swaddling, diaper changing and twin breastfeeding strategy was also helpful in getting us mentally prepared for the reality of the daily logistics to come. The ability to ask questions and receive answers in the comfort of our home was invaluable. We took a lot of notes and appreciated that Michelle and Melissa shared some pointers as mothers. We recommend Nurtured Beginnings to all new expectant parents with constraints similar to ours, and particularly to those that may not be in Loudon County”.

“We had a great birthing experience.  The labor itself only took 13 hours (pretty good for a first child I hear).  I got so many compliments on how well I handled the discomfort of labor: in fact, the triage nurse didn’t believe I was that far along, but when I checked in I was already 6 cm.  I firmly believe I was able to cope so easily because of the child birthing class K and I took with you.  All throughout the experience we kept telling each other “Okay, Michelle said it would be like this” or “Mellisa mentioned that, I remember.”  We remembered everything you told us and had our binder handy the entire time.  K was excellent in supporting me and he even assisted in the birth by holding my legs and watching the baby be born.  I distinctly remember being in the labor tub and feeling very, very uncomfortable.  I asked to be checked for progress because of the extreme discomfort. .  I figured I was 7 or maybe 8 cm.  Imagine my surprise when my midwife came and checked and told me it was time to push!  I was amazed that I had gone through transition already and remembered exactly what you two said: The best way to cope with transition is to realize that you are almost done.  And that’s exactly what I did.  I focused on the fact that it was time and soon K and I would have our baby girl in our arms.

Because I didn’t need an epidural, Serenity was very alert and very strong.   I was even able to reach down and pull her out of my body.  It was an incredible experience (though I’m definitely willing to wait on doing it again lol).  Thank you a million times over for helping us become a family.  I will never forget those hours of my life and I will never forget the feeling of becoming a mother.  I’m still using the information you’ve given us; the breastfeeding information has been priceless and Serenity nurses wonderfully”.

“My husband and I decided to take the private in home childbirth preparation class with Michelle and Mellisa and both agree it was the best decision we made.  Michelle and Mellisa eased our worries and anxiety.  They made us feel comfortable and completely catered to what we wanted to know.  We felt comfortable asking any questions we had without feeling judged and even had some great laughs.  The information they gave was undeniably helpful, well organized, and educational.  Also, after I gave birth I had much difficulty with breastfeeding and Michelle and Mellisa were both available through the phone and email to help ease my anxiety and feelings of defeat.  They helped me stick with it and now I am successfully breastfeeding my baby boy.  Nurtured Beginnings helped us feel prepared for our arrival and knowing there is continuedsupport when needed gives us much needed ease.”

“We were so happy to find such a well rounded class that was open and unbiased.  Mellisa and Michelle have a lot of knowledge to share and present many aspects of prenatal and newborn care.  Although planning for a natural child birth, we wanted to be prepared for any outcome.  After finding out our baby was breech, I was more confident about the decision to have a c-section. “

“My Husband and I had the pleasure of taking the private childbirth preparation class with Michelle and Melissa.  They both offered their expert knowledge and individual experiences, not only as nurses but as mothers.  The classes were not only informative and educational, but they really give you a sense of ease going into the most incredible and overwhelming experience of your life!  Being first time parents we both felt so much more prepared after the completion of our classes.  We will be looking forward to having the support of Nurtured Beginnings postpartum and feel more relaxed about breastfeeding and taking care of our new baby when he comes!

“Michelle was a great help with me and my baby.  It was so nice to have her come to my home to help me with breastfeeding instead of me having to take my newborn  out of the house. Being in the comfort of my own home made it a lot more relaxing.”

Carolyn, Lovettsville

“When my husband and I first became parents we were scared that we wouldn’t know what to do when Caylee cried or when to feed her or how to feed her and we were fearful like any other new parents.  We are so thankful for Michelle as she taught us and walked us through how to care for our new precious baby.  Even more, she gave us the confidence that we actually do know how to take care of Caylee.  The first few weeks home from the hospital were hard and a big adjustment and Michelle helped us tremendously cope with the change and the new addition to our family.  We are very thankful for her guidance and friendship!”

“My husband and I were so blessed to have had private home sessions for both childbirth education and postpartum follow-up!  The private sessions really enabled us to freely delve into our questions, hopes, and expectations, as well as bring to light incredibly beneficial information that would never have occurred to us.  The knowledge and care put into each of the provided sessions was so encouraging and empowering;  we walked into the hospital with confident, healthy expectations. The in-home postpartum support, particularly breastfeeding help was something I would never have believed I needed …until the truly “nurturing” wisdom from these women poured in!  My little girl is doing so well, and we are too, thanks to the genuine support from Nurtured Beginnings!”
